Mutton Paya or Aatukal Paya is an exotic curry from the Chettinadu cuisine made with goat legs. It is served with idiyappam, aappam or dosai from breakfast.

Ingredients

To Pressure Cook : 6 pieces Mutton /Lamb /Goats trotters

2 bay leaves

1/4/ tsp black peppercorns

1/4 tsp fennel seeds

For the Masala Paste : 1/2 cup freshly grated coconut

2 tbsp coriander seeds

2 tbsp Sesame seeds

4 Cloves

6 pods green cardamom

1/4 tsp black peppercorns

For Gravy : 3 tbsp cooking oil

1 large onion finely chopped

2-4 Green chilies

8-10 cloves garlic

2 piece Ginger

1 1/2 tsp Kashmiri Chill Powder or Mild Paprika Powder

4 tbsp Yogurt (Curd)

2 tbsp coriander leaves finely chopped

2 tbsp Mint leaves finely chopped

salt to taste

Juice of 1 lemon
