This post is for all of you fitness fanatics, the seekers of a great tasting protein shake, and the heath enthusiasts who steer clear of Muscle Milk, and the array of other brands with crappy, unpronounceable ingredients! I had an AMAZING workout yesterday, and I feel like I am finally getting back into the swing of things with my fitness. Lately my workouts have become sporadic, and a pain in the a** to complete. I have been eating pretty good–except for the occasional restaurant visit–but lately I just can’t find the energy to lift a dumbbell, do a plank, or hold a yoga pose… pure, unadulterated laziness on my part, but I think I found something to motivate me!
I read on the Internet about how great tasting PB2 is when added to shakes and smoothies, and these reviews gave me hope! What the heck is PB2? PB2 is powdered peanut butter without all of the oil, additives, and fats! So really it is ground up peanuts, and you make the “butter” yourself by mixing with water! The PB2 manufacturers Bell Plantation also make a chocolate version of the powdered peanut butter, and the chocolate powdered peanut butter is what I used to make this very drinkable, delicious, and dessert like chocolate protein shake!
Ready-made protein shakes are pretty expensive, so this recipe is also a great way to save money! And YOU control the amount of protein you add to your shakes so you can add just a little or a lot–whatever suits you and your fitness needs. I knew that I wanted a higher protein content in my shake so I used plain 0% Greek yogurt. One cup of plain Greek yogurt contains 23 grams of protein, and you can totally use one cup or more in this recipe–your smoothie won’t be too thick at all. For more flavor I added chocolate almond milk, and a banana. I cannot wait to experiment with rice milk, vanilla almond milk, and other fruits! You can even add kefir to this shake, but if you are weary of the high cholesterol content stick with 0% nonfat yogurt.

- 1 1/2 Cups Chocolate Almond Milk
- 2 Tablespoons PB2 Chocolate Peanut Butter Powder
- 1 Cup 0% Greek Yogurt
- 1 Banana
- Blend all ingredients together, and enjoy!
